About The Role Site: San Diego, CA
Key Responsibilities
Plan, execute, and troubleshoot in vivo studies for a variety of Neuroscience programs
Plan and execute complex tissue extraction protocols and analyses, including RNA and protein assays (Western blots, qPCR)
Intracerebroventricular (ICV) and intrathecal (IT) dosing, bleeding and CNS tissue dissection and collection
Handle many projects simultaneously and prioritize experiments while producing high quality, reliable and reproducible results
Data analysis, organization and presentation
Maintain up to date, organized and accurate study records including the use of an electronic lab notebook
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS in a science‑related field
4+ years research experience, preferably in neuroscience
Experience developing and executing experimental assays such as qPCR, Western blotting, or nuclear fractionation
Experience developing and executing in vivo experiments in rodent models
Expertise in small animal surgical techniques such as stereotaxic surgeries, or catheterization
Ability to work well in a collaborative, fast‑paced team environment
Excellent problem‑solving and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of computer software and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism)
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s in a science‑related field
Compensation and Benefits The salary for this position is expected to range between $85,000 and $158,000 per year. The final salary offered is determined based on factors such as relevant skills and experience, and will be reviewed periodically upon joining Novartis. Novartis may adjust the published salary range based on company and market factors. Compensation will include a performance‑based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility for annual equity awards. US‑based eligible employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life, and disability benefits, a 401(k) with company contribution and match, and a variety of other benefits. Employees are also eligible for a generous time‑off package including vacation, personal days, holidays, and other leaves.
