Job Description Terracon is currently seeking a

Natural Resources / Environmental Planning Project Scientist

to join our growing Chattanooga office. You will work with the Environmental Planning staff throughout the Southeast to assist with:

Waters of the United States Delineations, Permitting, and Mitigation

National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Assessments (Categorical Exclusions, EAs, EIS documents)

Threatened and Endangered species (T&E) services

Environmental site investigations, assessments, and surveys to sample, measure, and analyze air, water, materials, and soil

Responsibilities include proposal preparation, client development, project management, report writing, and mentoring junior staff.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

Follow safety rules, participate in pre-task planning, and report safety issues.

Maintain quality standards on all projects.

Manage projects as a proficient scientific professional.

Assist senior scientists/engineers on complex projects.

Conduct site visits, field observations, and data collection.

Implement technical requirements by supervising field staff.

Develop written proposals for clients.

Evaluate field data and compile reports.

Participate in meetings and client communications.

Oversee work by junior staff and technicians.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field with at least 7 years' experience, or 11 years' experience without a degree.

Preferred: Tennessee Qualified Hydrologic Professional Certification (TN-QHP).

Experience with wetland delineation and CWA Section 404/401 permitting.

Prior NEPA project experience preferred.

Strong report writing skills.

Understanding of the Endangered Species Act.

Knowledge of flora and fauna of TN/GA preferred.

Experience with ArcGIS, CAD, and Microstation.

Valid driver's license with acceptable record.
