Exercise independent judgment within the limits of law, university rules, and departmental policies. Enforce protection, safety, and welfare of students, faculty, employees, visitors, and campus community. Maintain courteous, professional attitude when dealing with campus community and visitors. Conduct patrols on foot and by vehicle to detect, investigate, and correct unwanted activity, report hazards, and ensure campus safety. Qualifications

Education : High School Diploma or equivalency; Texas-accredited police academy completion. Experience : Graduate from a TCOLE recognized police academy or approved equivalent; Peace Officer License issued by the TCOLE; valid driver license and insurable driving record; at least 21 years of age. Certifications : Must pass TCOLE firearms qualification standards and physical/psychological evaluation (L2 & L3); Peace Officer License; valid driver license; driver record insurable by UIW insurance carrier. Knowledge : Applicable federal, state, and local laws; law enforcement techniques; UIW equipment; Clery Act of 1990. Abilities : Pass TCOLE qualifications; physical and psychological evaluation; operate vehicles and equipment; read and write; recognize hazardous situations; exercise sound judgment; work with diverse communities; comply with university regulations. Effect arrests, subduing resisting individuals, chase fleeing subjects, running, walking, crouching, crawling. Move equipment, injured or impaired persons, climb stairs/ladders. Maintain effective audio-visual and perception techniques needed for making observations and communicating with others. Work Hours
