Position : Grounds/Custodial Team Lead (Full Time)

Reports To : Grounds Manager, Grounds Assistant Manager, Grounds Supervisor
Starting Pay : $17.50/Hour
Position Description :
The Grounds/Custodial Team Lead is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for Zoo & Aquarium visitors. Duties include, but are not limited to, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, cleaning surfaces with disinfectant, and emptying trash and recycling cans. Under direction, the Team Lead oversees the daily routines for all aspects of the Grounds/Custodial staff within an assigned area. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position that requires leadership abilities and a team-focused mindset. This is a full-time position with a flexible evening and weekend schedule.
Position Duties & Essential Functions :
Daily responsibilities (75%) :
Assisting with assignment of daily tasks, routines, event setup and tear down.
Litter control in all areas of the Zoo & Aquarium including parking lots, walking paths, grassy areas, buildings, and event spaces.
Maintaining cleanliness of facilities including restrooms, administrative areas, buildings, and event spaces.
Frequently emptying trash receptacles and recycling.
Organizing and cleaning outside eating areas.
Setting up, cleaning, monitoring, and tearing down special events.
Greeting and welcoming all guests; assisting with guest inquiries and directions.
Safely operating equipment such as trash compactors, floor scrubbers, pressure washers, orbital buffers, leaf blowers, snow blowers, and extractors.
Oversees daily routines in assigned area (20%) :
Performing inspections to ensure cleanliness, completion, and quality control of tasks, buildings, and event spaces.
Assisting staff and coordinating with supervisors and managers as needed.
Snow removal (5%) :
Performs snow removal as necessary.
Other duties :
This position may be required to perform other duties or special projects as assigned. Duty percentages are approximate and may vary based on department needs.

Minimum Qualifications :
Education & Formal Training:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Experience:
Ability to interact with all types of people professionally and effectively.
Other Minimum Requirements:
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to make immediate decisions pertaining to safety.
Can move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Assistance depending upon task or role.
Must be able to constantly move and position oneself to complete work for extended periods.
Comfortable with possible exposure to bodily fluids (blood, vomit, urine, etc.).
Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evening hours, in all weather extremes.
Must pass a background and drug screening.
