Base pay range $6,513.00 - $8,729.00 A $7,163.00 - $9,599.00 B $7,864.00 - $10,537.00 C New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Job Description And Duties Under the direction of an IT Supervisor II, the IT Specialist I supports Caltrans’ enterprise web platforms, including:
Caltrans Public Website (dot.ca.gov)
CalSTA (California State Transportation Agency)
CTC (California Transportation Commission)
Inspector General (IG)
Clean California
Caltrans Intranet (Onramp, Drupal 7 transitioning to Drupal 10)
The incumbent creates, edits, and maintains web content using Sitecore and Drupal CMS platforms, ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 accessibility standards. Responsibilities include troubleshooting publishing errors, conducting accessibility reviews using tools such as Siteimprove, axe, and WAVE, and providing responsive customer service to program staff statewide. The position also develops training materials, supports knowledge sharing, and contributes to continuous improvement of Caltrans’ web publishing practices.
Eligibility and Examination Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Information Technology Specialist I exam. For those who do not have current eligibility and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Possession of a valid driver's license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

Describe your experience creating, editing, or maintaining websites using Sitecore or Drupal. Provide examples and describe challenges you addressed.
Provide an example of how you have applied WCAG 2.1 AA or Section 508 accessibility standards to digital content, including web pages and electronic documents (e.g., PDFs, Word, Excel). What tools or methods did you use for remediation, and what was the outcome?
Share an example of when you worked with non‑technical staff on web content or accessibility. How did you approach the situation, what steps did you take to ensure understanding, and what was the result? What did you learn from this experience that you could apply in future collaborations?
