Assistant Professor of English – Tenure‑Track
Inside Higher Ed invites a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor of English to join the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Central Oklahoma. Position Overview Teaches, advises, and mentors students; evaluates performance; maintains department records; participates in faculty meetings; serves on departmental, college, and university committees as requested.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach four courses (twelve hours) per semester, including World Literature I and II, first‑year composition, and upper‑division and cross‑listed undergraduate or master’s‑level courses; offer graduate‑only seminars in world literatures, comparative literatures, or literatures before 1600.
Direct and serve on M.A. thesis committees; engage in service at the department, college, and university levels.
Maintain an active program of research, scholarship, and/or creative activity that contributes to the discipline and the college’s academic mission.
Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in English (or a directly related adjacent field) and a commitment to high‑quality teaching are required.
Preference will be given to applicants who have at least two years of experience teaching in a college or university setting.
