Responsibilities

Compassionately facilitates funeral arrangement discussions with deceased next of kin and presides over visitation, funeral, and graveside services in accordance with family’s wishes; licensed Funeral Director to ensure compliance with mortuary, health, and vital statistics regulations within the funeral establishment(s).

Arrangement Conference: receives or initiates contact with next of kin, confirms contact information, discusses needs (including languages), schedules Arrangement appointments, and emails confirmations; may perform removals/transfers per company standards; cares for the deceased respectfully; updates removal status in proprietary software.

Greets next of kin, facilitates Arrangements Conference, assesses needs, summarizes desired outcomes, discusses available life insurance/benefits (e.g., Veteran benefits), and promotes services and merchandise (funeral, cemetery, crematory, catering, flowers, music, Ever Lasting Memory products).

Transitions Arrangement Conference to Funeral Services Counselor/Advisor to present cemetery property and merchandise options, pricing, and contract completion; in absence of an FSA/FSC may perform related responsibilities.

Review and authorize merchandise and service contract revisions.

Directing Services: presides as Master of Ceremonies for visitation, funeral, or graveside services in alignment with Company standards; oversees graveside service components and verifies removal of personal belongings from the deceased prior to burial per arrangements.

Inspectes deceased visually, adjusts casket dressing/attire/makeup, communicates concerns to preparation staff, ensures alignment with contractual arrangements and next of kin expectations, and provides guidance to the services team as needed.

Interact with families to fulfill death care requests and obtain leads for pre-need services.

Event Planning: coordinates resources and ordering of music, flowers, or catering; creates memorial materials and obituaries; prepares event room (setup, decor) and performs post-event cleanup and item storage.

May perform attendant duties (parking lot attendant, driver, usher, pallbearer, courier) and may participate in community or charity events to represent the location.

General: work under guidance, ensure compliance with regulations, and collaborate with peers/manager; demonstrate accountability and initiative; learn to apply licensure to business environment; accept additional responsibilities as requested.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Licenses : Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science; current Funeral Director license in practicing state; valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record to operate company-owned vehicles.

Experience : Industry experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Cognitive ability to reason, plan, identify problems, learn quickly; process- and results-oriented; positive attitude and self-motivation; ability to build professional relationships; professional written and verbal communication; public speaking with ability to influence and gain consensus; proficient with databases and MS Office.

Work conditions : Indoor and outdoor environment; professional attire when in contact with families; ability to sit or stand for extended periods; occasional stairs; manual dexterity for paperwork/computer usage; ability to push/pull up to 150 pounds; flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
