Overview
A Lead Teacher is responsible for managing and supervising every aspect of an Amazing Explorers Academy classroom including effective implementation of our unique preschool curriculum. This includes creating an environment of learning that promotes the social, physical and intellectual growth of children, regardless of their age, background, or abilities. The Lead Teacher must be knowledgeable in developmentally appropriate practices and will take the lead in maintaining safety and order among all children in their room at any given time, ensuring activities and the curriculum are adhered to as required by the Director. The Lead Teacher must also be polite and responsive to the families of the students and be able to collaborate with other Assistant and Lead Teachers to foster the overall goals of Amazing Explorers Academy. All required training is paid and there is ample room for personal growth and development within the organization.
Responsibilities
Follows daily schedule and implements curriculum, including communicating and interpreting both verbally and in writing in the English language.
Maintains accurate child observation records and anecdotal notes for use during parent/teacher conferences to be held at minimum twice a year.
Conducts formal and informal assessments periodically to ensure children are on track developmentally.
Interacts with the children and models socially appropriate behavior in the classroom and on the playground, including standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, and lifting as needed to engage with the children.
Communicates effectively and respectfully with families.
Follows all safety and security policies and procedures and documents any accidents/incidents accordingly.
Follows mandated reporting guidelines as established by the state.
Supervises all children, maintains a secure and safe environment.
Maintains proper daily attendance records using digital tools (AEA mobile app) and sends updates to families during the school day.
Maintains a safe and healthy environment, adheres to procedures related to injuries and accidents, and communicates hazards to the Director.
Prepares a safe, warm, orderly, and clean environment.
Promotes positive interactions and respects the unique background of each person, including children with disabilities or special talents.
Plans curriculum and materials needed for the week prior to starting any program.
Opens and closes the assigned classroom in the morning and evening.
Remains responsible for cleaning the classroom and sanitizing toys and surfaces as well as proper disposal of trash.
Assists with meal and snack preparation, participates in family-style meals, and models table manners.
Participates in accreditation goals and completes associated classroom requirements if applicable.
May be required to take additional training classes or courses as required by Amazing Explorers Academy or any state/regulatory agency.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 18 years old.
Must meet state licensing requirements for education, including in-service hours as required.
Must meet all standards and requirements relating to education and experience as set by the state and accreditation agent.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prefer experience in a licensed or accredited child care center.
Prefer staff credential or degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, but not required.
Prefer CPR and First Aid certification, but not required.
Must be able to communicate, both verbally and in writing, in English.
Compensation Base pay range: $17.00/hr - $18.50/hr
