Overview
Assistant Nurse Manager - Center for Advanced Heart Failure (Clinic) — Memorial Hermann Health System Position responsible for supporting the Nurse Manager in providing leadership to the department, overseeing daily operations, managing and developing departmental staff, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team in the delivery of patient care, utilizing the nursing process, and ensuring the delivery of quality care to patients. Provides 24/7 (as appropriate) support of the department/unit. Typically reports to a Manager, Nursing or Director, Nursing. Responsibilities
Assist with the deployment of departmental goals that support the mission, vision and values of the organization. Assist leadership with managerial responsibilities. Carry out day-to-day operational components of the unit delegated by the manager/director, including input on hiring/firing/interviewing. Plan, coordinate, and direct effective coordination of care between units, nurses and providers. Assist with staff scheduling. Perform effectively in emergency situations within the unit. Assist with patient care as needed. Serve as a resource to staff. Act as a mentor/coach to staff, medical personnel, patients and family members. Assist in guiding staff in quality improvement efforts for all shifts. Ensure PI or quality standards are met daily. Participate in PI projects annually. Identify and provide verbal disciplinary action. Provide counseling and remediation with staff; may provide written disciplinary action in collaboration with leadership. Work with personnel to ensure staff have access to and are appropriately utilizing supplies. Provide input to Nurse Manager/Director on budget preparation. Promote intra/interdepartmental communication. Maintain a strong orientation to service excellence and ensure clinical care is aligned with evidence-based practice. Lead leadership rounds on patients and respond to customer complaints in a timely manner. Identify high risk social situations and address appropriately. Adhere to all regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards. Ensure safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adhere to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service. Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; support department-based goals; serve as preceptor/mentor to less experienced staff. Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of the community by delivering compassionate and personalized experiences; model Memorial Hermann’s service standards. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Nursing. If Bachelor’s is not in Nursing, a Master’s degree in Nursing is required. Licenses/Certifications: Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing; Basic Life Support certification; professional certification in clinical area or management within one year of exam eligibility. Experience/Knowledge/Skills: Three (3) or more years of experience in clinical area of practice; demonstrated leadership experience.
