Provides overall leadership for the effective expansion of program and service offerings for all academic coaching and enrichment activities and initiatives that impact the success of students. Trains, develops and supervises a professional team of Medical Education Learning Specialists to provide diagnostic interviews, strategy, structure, guidance and individual consultation in the areas of learning and test taking strategies, time management, and preparation for licensure examinations. Designs and develops academic success resource materials for medical students prior to matriculation to promote readiness for medical school. Designs and develops implementation plans for the expansion of academic coaching services to students pursuing Phase 3 Residency (P3R). Designs and develops academic coaching and enrichment services across modalities including, individual, small groups, classroom workshop format and 2-4 week intense elective models. Expands the Peer Tutoring Program to include delivery of small and large group instruction and an asynchronous video library to support student learning during a course or clerkship, including hiring, training, monitoring and evaluating Peer Instructors and the selection and scheduling of students in need of academic coaching and enrichment. Establishes internal structure of Peer Tutor Program including processes to identify, train and supervise Peer Tutor Leaders who independently manage designated sections of the program. Participates in orientation and board review activities including the planning and teaching of group sessions. Attends classes and other educational activities to gain thorough exposure to current educational content and methodology; reviews course and clerkship materials, books, websites, practice examinations, etc., for effective student assistance. Tracks and monitors student performance using a systematic approach to identify students at risk of academic difficulties and provide timely support. Develops academic coaching and enrichment resources for use online, in print and/or in-person. Establishes quality improvement projects to evaluate program effectiveness, ensuring appropriate IRB approvals are obtained to support scholarly dissemination. Collaborates with Student Accessibility Services and facilitates the provision of reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities and maintains compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Collaborates with all departments in the School of Medicine and provides training when necessary to support student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness. Serves on committees and engages in educational scholarship as part of ongoing contribution to the school's academic mission. Contributes to scholarly research and assessment of learning in undergraduate medical education, through preparation of various posters, articles, and/or presentations. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior. Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Master's degree in Educational or Cognitive Psychology with specialization in learning and remediation A minimum of 8 or more years of experience working with college students in academic advising, curriculum planning, and college teaching (preferred) Working knowledge of the sciences (biology, human anatomy and physiology, etc.). Previous experience working with adult learners; experience in medical education and administration preferred. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite. Education, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Preferred: Enrolled in graduate study or completion of Ed.D. or Ph.D. Doctoral Degree in Education, Educational Psychology, Higher Education Administration, or related field. Experience in Undergraduate and/or Graduate medical or graduate health professions education. Minimum of 5+ years in administration of an academic support or tutoring program in higher education. Compensation:
Flat Rate of $150,733.44 Annually. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role and does not reflect the full value of the total rewards package.
