This role involves working with minimal supervision and supporting the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. Using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model, the Assistant Store Manager develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and a shared passion for gaming. You will be responsible for ensuring products are easy to see and buy, building sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, maintaining a clean, organized store environment, and growing guest loyalty and repeat business. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Essential job duties and responsibilities include the following.

Responsibilities Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with gaming needs; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction; thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.

Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.

Process guest purchases/returns using the POS system accurately, including making correct changes, bagging merchandise, providing receipts, and ensuring high-quality guest service.

Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; answer calls promptly and professionally; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.

Promote GameStop fs guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-in programs, and Pro Rewards loyalty.

Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.

Observe associate performance and provide timely feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed.

Provide recognition and feedback to associates; document performance in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.

Ensure onboarding and training completion for associates prior to opening or closing shifts; knowledge of store policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethical responsibilities.

Schedule store associates to meet guidelines; supervise staffing levels to ensure optimal guest service.

Approve payroll, manage paid time off and time edits, and verify compensation accuracy.

Maintain store cleanliness, organization, merchandising per guidelines, and ensure equipment is in proper working order.

Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ship daily.

Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; communicate concerns to the Store Manager.

Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties.

Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and organize products on the sales floor.

Balance and reconcile daily POS totals; manage daily closeout paperwork and bank deposits.

Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct counts and report discrepancies.

Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing.

Monitor associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines.

Maintain store records and ensure manuals are up to date.

Supervise and delegate tasks in the Store Manager fs absence; adhere to all policies and procedures.

Open and close procedures compliance.

Qualifications Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.

Must be at least 18 years old.

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate s or bachelor s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.

At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.

At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.

Video game knowledge preferred.

Clear verbal and written communication skills; English proficient; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Ability to meet objectives in a fast-paced environment; work independently and as part of a team.

Operate POS system and perform basic mathematics and alphabetizing.

Complete required paperwork accurately and follow written or verbal instructions.

Flexible schedule, including extended hours, nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week).

Ability to work under pressure; be resourceful and a problem-solver.

Reliable, trustworthy, with good judgment.

Ability to stand, move, and lift up to 30 lbs; physical requirements may include climbing ladders.

Onboarding may require understanding of military ranks and insignia for stores located on military bases.

Benefits and Compensation

Compensation: $16.50 - $20.50 per hour. Full-time store positions are eligible to participate in incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance. Bonus and/or other incentives may be available.
