New York, NY (Onsite) The Team
The
Chan Zuckerberg Biohub New York
(https://www.czbiohub.org/ny/ ) is an independent nonprofit research institute that brings together three powerhouse universities - Columbia University, The Rockefeller University, and Yale University - into a single collaborative technology and discovery engine. CZ Biohub NY itself supports some of the brightest, boldest engineers, data scientists, and biomedical researchers to investigate the fundamental mechanisms underlying disease and develop new technologies that will lead to actionable diagnostics and effective therapies. Our Vision
We pursue large scientific challenges that cannot be pursued in conventional environments We enable individual investigators to pursue their riskiest and most innovative ideas The technologies developed at CZ Biohub facilitate research by scientists and clinicians at our home institutions and beyond Diversity of thought, ideas, and perspectives are at the heart of CZ Biohub Network and enable disruptive innovation and scholarly excellence. The Opportunity
The Advanced Single Cell Technologies platform provides critical single cell profiling and perturbation assays, technology, and expertise to the CZ Biohub NY community. The goal of this platform is to use and develop cutting-edge single-cell technologies in collaborations related to studying human disease and the interaction of immune cells with human organs. The Research Associate will contribute to the development of new single cell multi-omics technologies for high throughput screening and will have demonstrated experience in designing, performing, and troubleshooting experiments. What You'll Do
Design and perform molecular biology assays including primer design, DNA/RNA purification, gel electrophoresis, PCR, etc. Execute benchmarking and optimizing single cell/nuclei extraction, barcoding, and library preparation methods. Assist in identifying and recommending improvements to experimental processes and best practices. Support development of single cell multi-omics profiling technologies for high throughput screening. Collaborate with other scientists to achieve optimal experimental design and problem-solving. Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and presentations. What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biotechnology, or related field plus 2 years of research experiences, or master’s degree with no research experience required. At least 1 year experience of molecular and/or synthetic biology techniques. At least 1 year experience in next generation sequencing. Comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms underlying the experiments. Strong troubleshooting skills in developing and optimizing experimental protocols or technology. Demonstrate initiative and proactive attitude to problem solving. Ability to communicate effectively across interdisciplinary teams, including biologists, data scientists, and engineers.
