The Emergency Department Tech is responsible for coordinating and delivering clinical patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting. Responsibilities
Assist physicians, nurses and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations. Observe, collect, and document patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient''s condition to a registered nurse or physician. Assist patients and their families during admission or discharge to/from the clinical area. Provide care/treatments to patients as outlined in plan of care including, but not limited to: monitoring of vital signs; measurement of height and weight; specimen collection; catheter care; capillary blood glucose checks; simple wound care; and assistance with activities of daily living (ADL) as outlined in the plan of care. Maintain an effective clinical work environment including cleaning the work area, changing linens, maintaining and monitoring supply levels, and transporting patients and/or specimens throughout hospital. Qualifications
Must have a clinical credential in either nursing assistant (CNA) or emergency medical technician (EMT) discipline. Accepted nursing credentials are Nurse Aide I registration by the NC Division of Health Services or Nurse Aide II licensure as administered by the North Carolina Board of Nursing (NCBON). Accepted Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) credential is EMT-Basic as issued by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCEMS).
