Personal Trainer The Beede Swim & Fitness Center in Concord, MA is seeking part-time, energetic, certified Personal Trainers to work with clients in private or small group sessions. Trainers are encouraged to use not only the indoor fitness equipment and training spaces at the Beede Swim and Fitness Center, but also spaces outdoors including Town parks, outdoor fitness equipment, the Town track and other Town spaces. Trainers who are looking to run engaging, innovative training sessions and workshops for youth and/or adults are highly encouraged to apply! This is an hourly, part-time position, consisting of up to 20 hours/week. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a member-oriented, municipal-owned swim and fitness center that takes pride in serving the Concord community.

Pay Range: $35.00 - $50.00/hour, starting pay based on qualifications.

This is an hourly, part-time position, consisting of up to 19 hours per week.

Under the general supervision of the Beede Swim and Fitness Center General Manager, Fitness Trainers will facilitate private and/or small group personal training for clients ages 14+. Training sessions can run 7 days a week, year-round, at various times of day and at various locations, based on the Trainers availability and interest. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who are or become disabled as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the essential job functions (as listed) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case-by-case basis. Schedules and provides one-on-one or small group training sessions for clients; creates individualized exercise programs; educates clients regarding physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, and basic nutrition; motivates and encourages clients in their fitness practices. D evelops a variety of challenging and entertaining training sessions. Maintains positive relationships with participants to educate, motivate, and promote a health way of life by delivering quality, personal training programs. Teaches scheduled sessions, beginning and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercises, stretching, and cool down. Maintains accurate digital records of training sessions and encourages clients to renew their sessions when necessary. Works with the front desk to inform of planned sessions. Offers informative, 30-minute-long training meetings with new members to source potential new clientele. Instructs patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles. Adapts curriculum based on participant needs. Helps to clean and maintain fitness equipment and fitness rooms at the Beede Swim and Fitness Center, reporting any damage or malfunction to the appropriate staff member. Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs. Ensures that safety standards are met and Department and facility policies are followed. ] Performs other related duties as required, directed or as the situation dictates. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Specialized knowledge in Personal Fitness Training. Working knowledge of all procedures, techniques, safety laws and other state regulations relating to specialty. Working knowledge of facilities, and equipment used. Ability to perform emergency and lifesaving techniques. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to teach and mentor members in skill-development and to fairly and tactfully enforce facility rules and regulations. Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the public, including children and young adults, in a courteous manner. Ab ility to maintain a variety of records and statistics. Ability to deal with multiple tasks at the same time. Willingness to offer informative workshops on nutrition or other specialized topics, as interested and available. P hysical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and work outdoors in various weather conditions. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age . Prior experience in Personal Training, health promotion, or wellness, required. Must have a current Personal Training Certification. Must have current First Aid/CPR/AED certification or be willing to obtain before starting. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who are or become disabled as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the physical demands (as listed) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case-by-case basis. Moderate physical effort is generally required which involves frequent lifting of between 30 and 60 pounds. Regularly required to stand, walk, crouch, stoop, reach, crawl, climb, talk, sit and hear for extended periods. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects or equipment. Noise is moderate to loud at times. Vision and hearing at or correctable to normal ranges. Some work is performed in a normal office environment, not subject to extreme variations of temperature, noise, odors, etc. Frequently subjected to the demands of other individuals and the volume and /or rapidity with which tasks must be accomplished. Operates computer, printer, keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, and all other standard office equipment requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. Operates fitness equipment.
