Project Overview
Turner Construction is hiring an EH&S Safety Trainer based in the Denver, CO office with project work in Corinne, UT. Candidates may be local to Utah or travel to the site as required.
Position Description Provide training and enforce Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs on construction projects to eliminate hazardous conditions and protect workers and project property.
Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities
Educate construction teams, including Turner trade employees, on EH&S programs and provide training on safe work practices.
Promote safe work practices and conditions in accordance with company policies, federal, state, local regulations, and owner contractual requirements.
Build relationships with project team and subcontractor safety representatives.
Contribute to the development of overall project safety programs.
Enforce safety policies and implement corrective actions in line with Turner and regulatory requirements.
Ensure proper pre‑planning for subcontractor activities and tasks.
Review subcontractor safety programs for completeness and compliance.
Conduct pre‑construction planning meetings to review site safety programs and job hazard analyses.
Gather and maintain Pre‑Task Plans (PTPs) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for subcontractors.
Coordinate training and orientation for new employees and record participation.
Create safety reports, analyze metrics, and recommend improvements.
Conduct safety meetings, issue minutes, and maintain logs of toolbox safety meetings.
Perform safety audits, recommend corrective actions, and issue violation reports to subcontractors.
Evaluate training needs and make recommendations.
Actively participate in reducing project incident rates and managing regulatory exposures.
Administer drug screening programs in accordance with company and owner requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field, and minimum 2 years of construction safety experience.
Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification required or within two years of appointment.
Completed OSHA 30‑hour training and current First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED certifications.
Familiarity with safety/environmental principles, techniques, and regulations.
Familiarity with federal, state, and local EHS regulations and general construction operations.
Ability to identify safety exposures and propose corrective actions.
Leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to build professional relationships.
Professional verbal and written communication skills with effective presentation delivery.
Ability to take direction and follow through on commitments.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Analytical thinking, good judgment, and problem‑solving skills.
Limited travel may be required; reliable transportation required.
Salary Range The salary range for this position is $80,800.00 – $110,500.00 USD annualized.
