Our teachers lead the curriculum, instruction, and assessment for students to whom they are assigned using evidence-based models for social-emotional learning, personalized learning, and data-driven differentiated instruction in a culturally-sensitive manner.

Responsibilities

Lead the curriculum, instruction, and assessment for assigned students.

Differentiate curriculum, instruction, and individualized learning plans to meet individual student needs.

Develop positive relationships with students and with families to support student growth.

Manage classroom behavior in a respectful manner that aligns with school-wide rules and the Acero Schools Student Code of Conduct.

Collaborate with instructional leaders to develop and execute a Professional Growth Plan.

Communicate clearly and accurately with administration, colleagues, students, parents, and the broader community to improve academic outcomes.

Demonstrate professionalism, leadership, and personal responsibility in daily work and attendance.

Contribute to a positive school community and uphold the organization’s values of achievement, community, equity, resilience, and optimism.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (required).

Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based language acquisition strategies, WIDA Language Development Standards, and Common Core Standards.

Cultural competency and ability to work in a diverse community.

Fluent in Spanish with the ability to instruct students in English and Spanish.

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent (required).

Valid Illinois K-12 Bilingual Education - Spanish (BSPA) endorsement or equivalent (required).

Residency in Chicago is not required.

Must be authorized to work in the United States (required).

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions The role requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, stand, bend, reach, and move around the classroom. Physical demands include lifting/pushing/pulling up to 15-20 lbs for short periods. Availability for extended or non-traditional hours and attendance at organization-sponsored events may be required.
