Overview Special Education Teacher at Acero Schools – Chicago, IL.
Reports to Principal. Salary range $64,480 - $77,329 with full benefits. Residency in Chicago not required. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities Lead the curriculum, instruction, and assessment for assigned students.
Differentiate curriculum, instruction, and individualized learning plans to meet student needs.
Design and implement high-quality IEPs with clear objectives and outcomes in a timely manner.
Develop positive relationships with students and with families to support student growth.
Manage classroom behavior in a manner consistent with school rules and the Acero Schools Student Code of Conduct.
Collaborate with instructional leaders to develop and execute a Professional Growth Plan.
Communicate clearly with administration, colleagues, students, parents, and the wider academic community to improve student outcomes.
Exhibit professionalism, leadership, and personal responsibility for daily work, attendance, and school success.
Contribute to a collaborative school culture and uphold the values of achievement, community, equity, resilience and optimism.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (required).
Possess valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent (required).
Possess valid Illinois LBS1 endorsement or equivalent (required).
Strong technology skills and familiarity with electronic IEP systems.
ESL/Bilingual endorsement preferred.
Must be authorized to work in the United States (required).

Physical Demands & Working Conditions Standard business environment. Ability to operate office equipment, stand, bend, reach, and move around the classroom. Physical demands include lifting/pushing/pulling up to 15-20 lbs for short periods. Position may require extended or non-traditional hours and attendance at organization events and meetings.
