Multifunctional System Administrator (Level 3) — Sasebo, Japan
This role supports a US Navy Ship based in Sasebo, Japan. The successful candidate will deploy with the ship often, sometimes for months at a time, and the schedule will vary due to operational requirements. You will be responsible for on-site ALIS maintenance and support and serve as the primary point of contact for customer questions or concerns. The role involves working at deployed CONUS/OCONUS locations, supporting rotating shifts, and working over 40 hours per week as dictated by mission requirements. A valid US Passport is required.
Responsibilities
Backups, restores, and disaster recovery of the system
Hardware/system monitoring and performance tuning
System/software/user maintenance and maintaining system documentation
Analyzing and identifying issues with internal databases and applications
Setting up administrator and service accounts
Installing system-wide software and allocating mass storage space
Interacting daily with users and acting as a Subject Matter Expert for the ALIS product suite
Maintaining smooth, secure operation of multi-user computer systems through coordination with other disciplines (security, database, network, and offboard mission support)
Training System Administrators and users on the ALIS system as needed
Reviewing processes/procedures and collecting system operational data for analysis
Basic Qualifications
Must hold either a Secret security clearance with investigation within the last 6 years (or be enrolled in the Continuous Verification Program)
Current DoD IAT Level II certification (Security+, CySA+, or CCNA)
Hands-on experience administering IT networks
Willingness to support ship deployments and travel to alternate sites for training when in port
Strong oral and written communication skills
Valid US Driver's License
Valid US Passport
Proven Windows Enterprise Server Systems Administration experience and working knowledge of Active Directory
Desired Skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years with a related Master’s degree
Experience as an F-35 ALIS Administrator (preferred)
Prior Navy/USMC shipboard deployment experience
Experience as an ALIS Database, Systems, Security, or Network Administrator
Experience with SPLUNK and/or SQL and network appliances
Linux Red Hat certification
Background on a Fighter Program with familiarity of aircraft logistics, supply, or maintenance
