Unix IA Ops Systems Administrator (4702)
SMX is seeking a Mid‑Level Unix IA Ops Systems Administrator to join our team at the Patuxent River Data Center (PRDC). This role focuses on Information Assurance compliance and security operations for Unix/Linux systems across DoD networks.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Support vulnerability management—run ACAS scans, track results, coordinate remediation
Implement and validate DISA STIGs to ensure DoD security compliance
Prepare, review, and submit IA compliance packages (RMF artifacts, POA&Ms, etc.)
Document findings, create mitigation plans, and track corrective actions to closure
Work with senior engineers and IA teams to address cyber inspection findings and enforce controls
Perform limited Unix/Linux administration for compliance activities (patching, user access, validation)
Collaborate with system owners, security officers, and leadership to maintain audit readiness
Maintain on‑site presence for coordination with customers and stakeholders
Required Skills & Experience :
Top Secret clearance
3–5 years of relevant IT/IA experience in a DoD or enterprise environment
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+, CySA+, GSEC, SSCP)
Strong troubleshooting skills
Experience with RHEL; exposure to Solaris a plus
Hands‑on experience with ACAS, DISA STIGs, and RMF compliance workflows
Ability to track findings and maintain compliance records
Strong written and verbal communication
Desired Skills & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent)
Familiarity with Identity Management (IdM, FreeIPA)
Exposure to hybrid cloud or DoD Navy network environments
Experience with Ansible
Basic scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) for compliance automation
Prior experience preparing for or supporting cyber inspections
