Overview Developer – Contract – 7 Months – Madison, WI – Remote (90% remote / 10% onsite as needed). This developer will work on high-profile web application projects within the Child Care and Child Welfare (CCCW) section of the Department of Children and Families (DCF). The projects include .NET MVC, .NET 8, Blazor, Kendo UI, JavaScript, and legacy mainframe modernization to modern web applications using ASP.NET MVC with C# and Web API.

Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain front-end and server-side components of web applications using ASP.NET MVC, C#, JavaScript, Blazor, Kendo UI, and associated databases (SQL Server, DB2, Oracle). Participate in requirements analysis, code reviews, technical documentation, and production support. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize legacy VB.NET Web Forms and COBOL mainframe applications into .NET / CI/CD pipelines. Develop quality code using TDD, automated testing, and continuous integration platforms (GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps). In addition to core .NET development, contribute to new projects and modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

Proficiency in .NET MVC, .NET 6/8, C#, and ASP.NET Web API with SQL Server, DB2, or Oracle.

Experience with modern web front-end frameworks (Angular, React, Vue.js, Blazor Server) and Kendo UI components.

Strong TDD, CI/CD, automated testing, and GitLab/Jenkins or Azure DevOps pipelines.

Familiarity with DCF programs, State of Wisconsin application systems, and modernized legacy systems.

Preferred experience: DB2 Mainframe or COBOL modernization, xPression, iOS (Objective-C, Swift), Crystal Reports or Telerik Reports, IIS, PowerShell, Azure DevOps artifacts, front-end UI design.
