Purpose of Position The position incorporates all facets of software development from communication, requirements assessment, research, design, development, testing, integration, peer review, documentation, maintenance, and end user support.
Tasks and Responsibilities Create and maintain software for processing digital assets like terrain, imagery, vectors, and 3D models to empower our Modeling team. Design processes to improve their workflow efficiency and reduce errors. Build technology for the storage, transfer, conversion, and optimization of large data sets and their data formats relevant to the simulation, aviation, and geospatial industries. Examples of development areas include realistic terrain, sophisticated animation, high-resolution imagery, procedural content generation, and 2D/3D content processing.
Minimum Education Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related degree.
Minimum Experience
Computer Science degree and 5+ years of industry experience
C++ / C# programming
Data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Proficiency in geospatial software development and/or geospatial formats
GIS software packages such as ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS, etc.
Open Web Standards development such as WMS, WCS, GeoPackage, etc.
Modeling/art pipelines for graphics-based industries
Processing of satellite imagery, aerial photography, mapping data, or terrain elevation
Graphics programming: e.g. Unreal, Unity, OpenGL, Direct3D, HLSL, GLSL
Strong mathematics capability - matrix algebra, projective geometry, vector math, etc.
Design patterns and/or multi-threading experience
MS Visual Studio
Python or other scripting experience
Reading and using technical specifications
Lean/Agile software development
Atlassian products: e.g. Jira, Confluence
