Overview
We are seeking a full time Counsel - Corporate, in our Olathe, KS location. In this role you will be responsible for leveraging legal subject matter knowledge in a variety of areas, including global corporate entity management and commercial contracts.
Essential Functions
Apply knowledge of law to advise on legal rights and obligations
Research applicable laws, regulations and rulings
Prepare and review contracts and other legal documents
Obtain and analyze all relevant information in order to advise on and provide accurate legal advice
Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with other members of the Legal Department and with members of other Garmin departments
Perform work on corporate law matters for domestic and international subsidaries, including formation of subsidiaries, compliance with corporate laws, preparation of corporate resolutions, and maintenance of corporate records
Perform work on a broad range of transactional matters, including reviewing and drafting license agreements, purchasing and supply agreements, nondisclosure agreements, sponsorship agreements and other commercial contracts
Perform work on mergers and acquisitions
Provide legal advice in a broad range of legal and regulatory compliance areas
Coordinate with, respond to and defend Garmin in the context of investigations or discussions with regulatory authorities
Provide training to internal clients on a broad range of legal and regulatory compliance areas
Basic Qualifications
Law Degree from an ABA accredited law school
AND
a minimum of 1 year of experience performing the essential functions of this position as either an in-house attorney or private practice attorney
For U.S. based positions, admission to the applicable state bar in the location of employment
Excellent undergraduate and law school academic record
Demonstrate knowledge of Garmin’s business and products
Demonstrate an aptitude to learn and effectively apply legal knowledge in the business context
Demonstrate strong and effective communication skills
Demonstrate organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
Demonstrate an ability to leverage legal technology effectively and responsibly
