Responsibilities

Lead Attorney or First Chair on medium-sized or more discrete legal matters, with growing complexity; provide Second Chair or support on significant legal matters. Avoids or mitigates critical legal operating, technological, and environmental risks by identifying them and working with stakeholders to develop appropriate strategies. Provide legal advice on complex issues with potential significant strategic or performance implications for the organization. Drive processes and procedures for contracts and the implementation of best practices under the guidance of Senior Attorneys. Analyze and draft legal memoranda assessing merits, risks, and opportunities with focus on different problem-solving approaches. Create business-oriented legal reports and correspondence and present legal information to senior management; help lead regulatory and enforcement matters, including drafting and preparing contracts or regulatory filings, testimonies and reports, and advocating company positions at hearings. Influence specialist legal operations and projects to manage key legal and regulatory risks while balancing stakeholder interests. Lead the negotiating and drafting of a wide variety of agreements or submissions. Participate in designing the legal strategy for draft proposed legislation. Oversee, in a strategic and cost-effective manner, the management and partnership with outside counsel on contentious or litigation matters. A material job duty is ensuring the protection of all assets and properly accessing and managing private customer data and other highly sensitive information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Three or more years of experience practicing law. Experience can be in a law firm, corporate in-house setting, or government authority. Current member in good standing of the State Bar of California or willingness and ability to become accredited as such. Preferred Qualifications

Top academic credentials. Experience in the utility or energy industry is preferred, but not required. Experience interacting with federal, state, or local agencies or courts. Ability to independently handle proceedings as lead attorney before regulatory agencies such as the California Public Utilities Commission, or first chair-level court experience. Experience working with client organizations to develop and carry out strategic initiatives, e.g., identification of issues, development of prepared testimony, legal pleadings, discovery, witness preparation, cross-examination, oral argument, and legal briefs. Strategic problem solver with strong analytical ability to provide legal advice within a business context. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to manage multiple assignments, work quickly under deadlines, and prioritize activities and risk. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team, including collaboration with colleagues, other company personnel, and outside counsel. Additional Information

The position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
