The Civil Division of the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office represents and defends Maricopa County, its officials, and employees in various litigation matters in State and Federal Courts. Responsibilities include handling cases related to police liability, tort claims, environmental enforcement, medical claims, condemnation, and more. The successful candidate will serve as the lead attorney on assigned cases and collaborate with others to resolve cases effectively, providing strategic advice and liability assessments. Division Overview
The Civil Services Division acts as a law firm for the County, defending legal actions and providing legal advice on public law topics. It comprises four practice groups: Litigation; Government Advice & Elected Officials; Human Resources, Behavioral Health, & Probate; and Appeals, Election Law, Public Records, & Tax. Benefits

Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school At least 3 years of civil litigation experience Additional Requirements
Valid Arizona driver’s license Admission to practice law and good standing with the Arizona State Bar Note: A background check and drug testing are required. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in government legal practice Civil litigation in federal and state courts Bench and jury trial experience Key Responsibilities
Legal research and analysis Handling civil litigation cases Assisting with appellate briefs Drafting legal documents and providing legal advice Representing clients in court and hearings Providing case status and risk analysis Maintaining legal education requirements Working Conditions
Office and courtroom environment Travel for court appearances and meetings Ability to lift up to 20 pounds Selection Process
