H2M architects + engineers , a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting firm, seeks a full-time or part-time
Asbestos Investigator . As an Asbestos Investigator, you will be responsible for assisting with sampling, testing, and inspections for asbestos surveys, reviewing and understanding site plans, and completing asbestos, mold, lead, and indoor air quality inspection reports for insurance companies, private industries, and school districts. Travel is required, and you may need to use your own vehicle for work-related travel, including travel to and from job sites. Job Responsibilities: Perform asbestos, mold, and lead surveys on residential and commercial buildings. Provide project monitoring and air sampling, including compliance with on-site field protocols such as chain of custody forms and daily logs. Prepare and review project-related reports. Manage asbestos and lead abatement projects, including scheduling field staff, client management, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring compliance with state and city agencies (a plus). Education and Qualifications: Must have an “Inspector Certificate” issued by NYSDOL and a minimum of 7 years’ experience (two years’ experience in building survey/hazard assessment for ACM and three years of other documented building survey-related experience; OR a college degree and relevant asbestos work experience). Over 1 year of experience in the environmental consulting field, specifically industrial hygiene. Current NYSDOL certifications for the following: Mold Assessor (a plus) EPA Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor certification (a plus) Strong technical skills, including field expertise and knowledge of architectural drawings. Excellent oral and written communication skills. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Client relationship skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office. The
salary range
for this role is $70,000 - $100,000 annually. The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on various factors, including but not limited to experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography, and/or related certifications—not related to any applicant’s characteristics
