Basic Function Kern Community College District is accepting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors. Applications remain active for up to two years, allowing the district to contact qualified applicants immediately as needs arise. The starting hourly rate is $60.00, which may vary based on the assignment and LHE formula. Qualified applicants will be contacted by department supervisors, deans, or division chairs.
Representative Duties
Provide instruction in a full range of Administration of Justice courses.
Teach at various campus sites, including day/evening classes, weekends, large classes, distance learning, and using multiple methodologies.
Participate in student recruitment and transfer articulation activities.
Maintain current subject matter knowledge and develop/revise curriculum.
Utilize computer and multimedia technology in instruction.
Engage in professional activities at departmental, college, district, and discipline levels.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related professional experience, OR
Associate degree and 6 years related professional experience, OR
Valid credential authorizing full-time teaching of Administration of Justice, OR
Equivalent qualifications (applicants must submit an application for equivalence with supporting documents).
Additionally, candidates should demonstrate sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and must have degrees from accredited institutions. Foreign degrees require evaluation by a recognized credential evaluation service.
Knowledge & Abilities
Broad knowledge of the discipline and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.
Curriculum development skills, including delivery via different modalities.
Ability to participate in recruitment and articulation activities.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to assess student outcomes and maintain subject matter currency.
Knowledge of computers and openness to new technologies.
Commitment to the mission of California community colleges.
