The part-time faculty member is responsible for providing professional, quality teaching at the undergraduate level, using active learning methods and a variety of instructional strategies to assist students in meeting course objectives; assessing student learning; and providing academic assistance to students as needed. Responsibilities
Deliver courses in criminal justice/law enforcement as assigned. Utilize instructional technologies and online learning management systems. Assess student learning and provide timely feedback. Maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff. Commit to diversity and meeting students’ learning needs. Uphold high ethical standards and professional conduct. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in criminal justice, law, or a related field. In some cases, an associate degree with related work experience, professional licensure and certifications, or other demonstrated competencies may be considered. In-depth knowledge of the subject area to be taught. Proficiency in oral and written communication in the language of instruction. Ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff. Commitment to community service and high ethical and moral character. Proficiency with email. Willingness to teach in a variety of instructional delivery modes, including the use of instructional technologies and online learning management systems. Commitment to diversity and meeting students’ learning needs. Personal and educational philosophy compatible with the goals, objectives, and mission of Central Ohio Technical College. Successful completion of a background check. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the subject area or a related degree, or a master’s degree in education. Previous teaching experience and experience with curriculum development and assessment. OPOTA instructor certification. Applicants should list the OPOTA certified courses for which they are certified to teach. Location and Schedule
