Substance Use Counselor/Counselor in Training
Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed!
Position Overview A substance abuse counselor will assist patients through medically assisted programs and offer techniques for managing opioid addiction. The counselor will conduct group and individual sessions, provide crisis management and coping strategies, evaluate patient progress, and collaborate with doctors, nurses and therapists for comprehensive treatment.
Responsibilities
Conduct individual and group counseling sessions.
Coordinate care of assigned patients and present patient status and concerns with the treatment team.
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop and implement patient treatment plans according to state regulatory requirements.
Provide clinical services, patient care, education and opioid addiction counseling services to patients.
Excellent documentation and computer skills required.
Other related duties as determined by supervisor.
Qualifications
LADAC or LAADAC.
Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals.
Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward patients.
Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records).
Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
