Conservatory Admissions Counselor

manages all activities necessary to recruit students within a designated territory to Shenandoah University to meet individual and team enrollment goals. Counselors must have or acquire substantial knowledge about their territory, exercise discretion and independent judgment in developing recruitment strategies, and provide a high quality of service to prospective students and families throughout the recruitment, application, and acceptance/enrollment processes. The admissions counselor will often be the prospective student’s first contact with the university and must recognize the importance of building a relationship based on professionalism, correct, and timely exchange of information. The counselor also acts as a liaison between prospective families and university departments, primarily working with First-Year and Transfer students applying to Shenandoah Conservatory’s programs in Music, Theatre, and Dance. The ability and willingness to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Primary responsibilities: Working collaboratively as a member of the First-Year Recruitment team, utilizing data to analyze past strategies and create new recruitment plans. Proposing and adjusting recruitment strategies and events, developing outreach campaigns, and planning campus visits and fairs. Developing innovative approaches to increase awareness and interest among prospective students, families, school counselors, and community organizations. Reviewing applications, exercising discretion to determine best-fit candidates, and notifying applicants of decisions. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Representing the university at off-campus recruitment events. Assisting in planning and executing campus visits and giving admissions presentations. Participating in on-campus recruitment events such as Open Houses and Shadow Days. Managing Saturday visits throughout the year among team members. Maintaining records and communicating with prospective families. Monitoring and reporting on recruiting programs for specific populations. Performing other duties as assigned.
