Job Summary
This position exists to coordinate the Volunteer and Tour Reservation Program at Kartchner Caverns State Park. It will work in tandem with Park Leadership to ensure Volunteers and Customer Service Representatives are adequately trained and effectively assigned to meet the needs of the park. The position is accountable for managing the programs, hiring, training and supervising Volunteers and Customer Service Representatives, and champions continuous improvement personally and with all Volunteers and Park Staff.
Job Duties
Management • Management of the Kartchner State Park Volunteer Program and Tour Reservation Program. • Responsible for decisions concerning the quality of the Program Operations and the appropriate use of Volunteers and Customer Service Representatives. • Duties include: recruiting, screening, training, coaching, advising, and evaluating Volunteers and Customer Service Representatives. • Includes program development specific to Agency and Kartchner State Park policies and procedures. • Also requires coordination with Park Leadership for effective use of volunteers in all units of the park with direct supervision. • Collects and analyzes Volunteer and Tour data. • Responsible for the generation of detailed reports needed by the Park, Agency Volunteer Program Manager and continuous improvement metrics. Programmatic • Hosts visitors; conducts interpretive programs and will lead guided tours in cave. • Provides information in response to visitor questions, direction, guidance, and concerns. • Provides information in response to visitor questions and concerns. Customer Service • Provides customer service by phone and in-person and responds to public inquiries about park hours, accommodations, reservations. Cash Handling • Perform cashier duties at Contact Station/Gift Shop; collect and account for fees for park admission and store purchases. Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Selective Preference(s)
• Two years of experience equivalent to a Park Ranger. • A Bachelor’s degree in Park Management, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, History, Archaeology, Geology, Ecology, Recreation Planning or a closely related field may substitute for one year of the required experience. • Any combination of training and experience that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) may be substituted.
Pre-Employment Requirements
• Valid Arizona State Driver’s License • First Aid/CPR/AED within 90 days This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements. All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
