The Lead Inspector
is responsible for inspecting a building to ensure its low voltage system complies with all local, state, and federal codes and owner requirements. You focus on the proper function of the alarm systems but also inspect other systems that support our customers, including Intrusion, Access Control, and CCTV. You may direct and assist other inspectors, ensure safety policies are followed, ensure work is compliant with industry standards, and coach/teach other inspectors on proper inspections and reports. You must be familiar with NFPA, FFPC, AHCA and Joint Commission standards. The Lead Inspector reports directly to the Service Manager and works closely with the Service Coordinator and Sales Department. Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Fire Alarm, Access Control, CCTV, and Intrusion product lines, including similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines. Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment. Complete Service Acknowledgements and Inspection Documentation with proper coding through communication devices such as laptop computers and/or hard copy. Prepare inspection documents that may include requirements by other authorities (e.g., Joint Commission or Florida Agency for Health Care Administration). Follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule. Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documents via laptop computer. Complete assigned inspections on time. Perform other duties as assigned. Rotation in the On Call List. Some documented experience in low voltage electrical systems. Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, program schematics, and manuals. Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage. Aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary small repairs. Required Skills & Qualifications
Certifications in IFSS’ areas of expertise or a successful 5 years minimum of demonstrated work history/knowledge as an Inspector is required. NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems is preferred but not required. Understanding of NEC and NFPA current requirements is essential. Familiarity with NFPA, FFPC, AHCA and Joint Commission standards Ability to troubleshoot panels and devices. Perform onsite review of previous repairs and quality control. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars and keeping up with industry changes and the latest proven technologies, including factory-level training when necessary. Compensation: Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and climb stairs, or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
