Chaplain
to join our team at MedStar Franklin Square Hospital, providing spiritual counseling, guidance, and sacramental care to patients, families, and staff.
Job Summary Offers spiritual care services to adult patients and families using theological and clinical training to help patients and families cope more effectively with life and/or end of life issues. Provides 24/7 spiritual care coverage, administers sacraments, coordinates with clergy, and organizes worship or prayer services.
Primary Duties
Conduct spiritual assessments and integrate patients’ beliefs and values into individualized care plans, providing guidance to support treatment decisions and personal adjustment.
Offer counseling and facilitate communication between patients, families, and the interdisciplinary health care team regarding spiritual needs.
Document assessments, progress notes, and faith-related information in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
Represent the hospital in community and interfaith events, participate in departmental initiatives, and support programs to meet patients’, families’, and staff’s spiritual needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree of Divinity (Required)
Master’s degree of Divinity (Required)
Less than 1 year parish ministry or other pastoral ministry experience, preferably in a hospital/healthcare setting (Required)
License/Certifications
Certification by a Chaplain’s certifying body (Preferred)
If a priest or minister, ordained by a recognized religious body and endorsed by the proper ecclesiastical authority (Required)
If a lay person, endorsed by the proper ecclesiastical authority (Required)
Minimum Qualifications This position has a hiring range of $59,820 - $101,836. Entry level, full-time, other job function, hospitals and health care industry.
