The Fairbrother Laboratory uses a combination of computational biology and high-throughput genomics techniques to identify functional elements in the genome, with a focus on recognition events important in gene expression and processing (e.g., transcription and RNA splicing). Projects include understanding how sequence element arrangements are read by the splicing machinery and identifying mutations/polymorphisms that disrupt splicing in the human population. Additional Responsibilities

This position will also support the NIH COBRE funded RNome Facility Core by helping ensure smooth core operation through managing reagents and supplies, performing genomic assays, assisting with long read Nanopore sequencing, functional genomics, RNA IP, RNA probe synthesis and Massively Parallel Reporter Assays (MPRAs).
