Senior Research Assistant – Inside Higher Ed (Brown University, Fixed Term 1 year)
Responsibilities
Independently maintain cell lines and reagents, perform transfections, PCR, western blotting, and extractions of RNA, DNA and protein.
Prepare equipment and supplies to support successful experiments in the laboratory.
Collaborate with computational biologists and other lab members, maintain order in the lab, and perform experiments independently.
Collect, record, and interpret experimental data; contribute to writing grants and manuscripts with the Principal Investigator.
Supervise and assist students, post‑docs, and other research assistants.
Support the NIH COBRE funded RNome Facility Core by managing reagents and supplies and performing genomic assays, long‑read Nanopore sequencing, RNA IP, RNA probe synthesis, and Massively Parallel Reporter Assays (MPRAs).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 3‑5 years of laboratory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of laboratory approaches and techniques in Molecular, Cell Biology, and Biochemistry, with competency in PCR, electrophoresis, western blotting, and mammalian cell culture.
Preferred: Experience in RNA/DNA purification and analysis, next‑generation sequencing, biochemistry, or cellular imaging.
Job Competencies

Ability to supervise others.
Ability to design, conduct, and evaluate experiments independently.
Excellent communication skills.
