We are working on a Freelance Designer for women's activewear. Role is full-time hours in their midtown office. This temporary role will support the Active team, including all aspects of the product lifecycle from concept to final development, with guidance from the category's leader. Responsibilities
Support the senior design team and assess the relationship of different categories season to season. Collaborate with senior leaders on monthly presentations and confidently address questions from the executive leadership team. Research current market trends seasonally and translate them into the design aesthetic and philosophy. Work with the technical department on development and fit procedures. Partner with merchants to ensure customer needs and preferences are addressed each season. Gain full knowledge of raw materials and work with CFT to source seasonal and new core fabrics. Collaborate with the production team to achieve high-quality products within the cost structure. Research domestic and international market trends and evaluate their relevance to AE. Work with the Concept team to evaluate the assortment and provide objective feedback on the entire collection. Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned. Able to work in a hybrid environment, with some work performed remotely and essential functions in-office Monday-Thursday. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Fashion or Art (or equivalent experience and education). Experience working in leggings/activewear. 5+ years of related experience. Strong eye for color, trend, detail, and construction. Ability to multi-task and prioritize based on business objectives. Working knowledge of Illustrator and PLM is essential. Excellent communication and analytical skills to liaise between departments. Detail-oriented, computer literate, and capable of handling multiple tasks. Strong presentation and communication skills.
