Overview
Clovis Community College seeks an equity-minded Computer Science Instructor (Part-Time Faculty Pool) who is committed to student success through collaboration with faculty, staff, students and community partners. The successful candidate will serve a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population and contribute to closing equity gaps. The college is Hispanic-Serving and dedicated to providing services responsive to student needs.
Responsibilities
Teaching a part-time schedule of Computer Science courses as assigned.
Using a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats, with effective integration of technology.
Communicating effectively with students, faculty and staff.
Using teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhering to institutionally approved curriculum outlines of record.
Evaluating student progress through tests, assignments, exams, and other assessments in alignment with course objectives.
Providing course syllabi to students and maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy.
Submitting all required grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including as needed.
Fulfilling duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122 and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and a commitment to equity-minded practice in the classroom.
Master’s in computer science or computer engineering; or
Bachelor’s in computer science or computer engineering and Master’s in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering; or
Bachelor’s in engineering and Master’s in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration; or
Bachelor’s in mathematics and Master’s in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration; or
Bachelor’s degree in any of the above and a Master’s degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems; or
A valid California Community College Credential; or
Equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

Courses in the use of computer programs for application to a particular discipline may be classified for minimum qualifications purposes under the discipline of the application.
If degrees do not match exactly, you must petition for equivalency.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
Recent experience with racially minoritized students and understanding of historical exclusion patterns in higher education.
Willingness to reflect on and improve instructional practices to support racially minoritized students.
Experience working with students from diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities.
Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum and student success.
Proficiency with computers and other technologies used in instruction and student support.
Effective communication with students and staff.
Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials; knowledge of the community college mission and goals.
Salary and Benefits
Newly hired part-time faculty will be placed on step one of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
Salary classifications based on education and experience as outlined in the Part-Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
Sick leave accrual based on assignment hours.
