Overview
Position Title: Safety Coordinator. Department: Safety Department. Reports To: Director of Safety. FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt. Job Type: Full-Time. Classification: Office. Based in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities
Ensure that all codes are observed, including Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations to include OSHA, DOT, EPA, and NFPA.
Assist upper safety management with all recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
Assist in conducting accident/injury investigations and illness exposure monitoring.
Assist with the maintenance of all required safety and health documents/files.
Assist with evaluating the effectiveness of hazard control systems, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reduce workplace accidents and injuries.
Assist in new employee orientation training and contribute to delivering a variety of training topics.
Conduct safety inspections and safety audits.
Medical Interface: Coordinate transportation of injured or ill employees to medical facilities.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Abilities:
Good communication skills; able to work independently when needed; favorable driving record over the last 3 years; able to be placed on stand-by or on call when away from the site.
Language Ability:
Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of employees.
Mathematical Ability:
Perform arithmetic operations using American units of weight, volume and distance.
Work Environment:
Ability to work in hot or cold environments, outside and indoors, in high noise and dusty conditions. Operations are 24/7; may include night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Demands:
Climb stairs and ladders; work at elevations; lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs; wear respirator when needed.
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma; minimum of 7+ years safety experience; general HSE regulatory knowledge; knowledge of occupational hazards (General Industry and Manufacturing) and related safety rules; NCCER Construction Site Safety Technician; OSHA 30 - General Industry; experience in manufacturing.
Preferred:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); Haz-Woper 40 hr certification; CSHO - Certified Safety and Health Official (General Industry); emergency response experience; bilingual (English/Spanish); fire department response training is a plus.

Base pay range: $25.00/yr - $30.00/yr
