Overview Georgia Tech seeks an Academic Advisor II to provide information and counsel to undergraduate and graduate students within an assigned area regarding their academic pursuits and progress. The role includes preparing and maintaining associated student records and often concentrating in graduate programs or a specialized academic area. The position may interact with students, parents, and faculty, staff, and may involve providing work direction to Academic Advisors and administrative support staff.

Responsibilities

Meet with students concerning questions and issues regarding various aspects of their academic program, including academic program requirements, registration, permits, overloads, degree petitions, change of major, commencement, curriculum, academic progress, and Institute policy.

Perform reference searches and records access in conjunction with student inquiries.

Respond to academic administration and faculty requests for assistance in administrative, recruitment, or student-related matters.

Prepare assessment reports; maintain student-related records, files, and databases.

Review, approve, and process curriculum-related actions.

Interact with other academic units in conjunction with joint programs.

May schedule and coordinate student events.

May provide input to the academic unit's planning efforts.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Required Qualifications:

Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours due to client shift schedules and project requirements.

Required Experience:

Four to five years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to effectively interact with individuals from diverse cultures and use of specialized computer applications.

Preferred Educational Qualifications:

Master’s Degree.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge of advanced university-level academic program requirements and related administrative processes; strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills; basic computer skills.

Other Information Salary range:

$56,489.00 - $65,106.00 with experience and education

This is not a supervisory position. This position does not have financial responsibilities. It does not require driving, security clearance, or a purchasing card (P-Cd). Travel may or may not be required based on role needs.
