Country Casual Teak Inc. an outdoor furniture company in Maryland seeks a full-time Furniture Designer to work at its offices in Gaithersburg, MD.
Duties
A member of the Product Development team, the Furniture Designer creates and updates product drawings, renderings and CAD assets to assist with product development, product improvement and direct sales. Assists in product design process to ensure adherence to technical specifications and test standards for functionality and overall performance. Collaborates cross-departmentally on solutions to address current and potential product problems. Researches and provides insight on relevant materials, technical information, test methods and construction capabilities. Performs inspection and conducts tests to ensure adherence to quality standards. Product drafting & design: Create detailed product component and construction drawings for use in prototype development and production. Design and draft new product concepts to meet department and company goals. Design product customizations based on client and/or site requirements. Work directly with sales team to develop collateral and assets to meet client requirements. Research and recommend parts, components, materials to improve product performance, durability, and/or aesthetics. Understand and work within manufacturing capabilities including doing site visits, evaluating samples, preparing RFQ requirements. CAD asset generation & management: Maintain and update furniture specifications and archive of 2D and 3D CAD drawings. Manages/updates bills of material (BoMs) for product designs. Serve on cross-functional technical team to ensure samples and production batches adhere to specifications. Investigate and test various drawing platforms and generate assets compatible with systems to best serve client needs. Product testing & quality assurance: Conduct and participate in product testing for functionality, adherence to specs and overall quality. Investigates issues raised by product support and client relations to propose solutions. Requirements
Master’s in Industrial Design or related field and one year of experience in furniture/product design, architectural/technical plan drawings, interior/exterior space planning. Accomplished technical drawing skills in AutoCad or similar program, 3D drawing and rendering skills Industry experience or educational background in product or furniture design. How to Apply
