Description
Provide on-going campus based instructional modeling and compliance training for all teachers and teacher assistants implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students receiving Early Childhood Special Education services.
Schedule and conduct regular campus visits to observe, provide written feedback, and make recommendations to staff and administrators to improve the implementation of students' Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals and services in the ECSE classrooms.
Respond to campus requests for assistance and provide assistance to campuses in resolving special education related issues and concerns in a timely manner.
Work collaboratively with various program personnel across the district to monitor, train, and provide continuous support to teachers and teacher assistants to enhance programs, services, and support for students by providing effective feedback, coaching, and modeling on their work in the learning environment.
Implement a standard research-based coaching and feedback model of support to assist teachers with instructional growth; Ensure the implementation of program standards and best practices by conducting classroom observations and/or review IEPs and providing formative feedback.
Assist with the creation and implementation of campus action plans addressing campus needs; communicate feedback, proposed resolutions, and completion of action items with the program supervisor in a timely manner.
Assist campus staff with creating and implementing special education staff schedules, classroom schedules, and individual student schedules according to IEPs.
May provide direct support to students in high-needs classrooms and/or to campuses with critical needs.
Collect and analyze district, campus and student data to assist in planning instructional programs, making informed instructional decisions, and monitoring program effectiveness.
Assist in the dissemination and explanation of information about program curriculum and instruction initiatives.
Assist in organizing and leading professional learning opportunities for district approved intervention programs, initiatives, and best practices; monitor the implementation of intervention programs, initiatives, and best practices to determine additional training needs.
Deliver and/or collect special education supplemental materials and resources, maintain records and inventory of distributed/returned items to/from campuses.
Attend professional development in special education, mentoring, and leadership to remain up to date on new research on how children learn, emerging technology tools for the classroom, and curriculum initiatives.
Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.
Qualifications
Required bachelor’s degree in a directly related field; valid Texas teacher certificate with required Special Education endorsements; Master’s Degree Preferred. Required 3+ years teaching experience in special education; Early Childhood Special Education settings preferred. Demonstrated ability to align special education instructional standards with Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines and TEKS. Skilled in working successfully with other professionals and evaluation staff. Demonstrated computer literacy in special education program applications. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral format. Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum trends, innovative programs, and best practices for students with disabilities ages 3-5 Demonstrated knowledge of structured teaching methodology and techniques.
