This position will work Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:30-4:00 (Exact Schedule will be based on student needs). Job Summary
The Sign Language Interpreter facilitates effective communication between hearing and deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals in classrooms, meetings, and school events using American Sign Language (ASL) or other appropriate manual sign systems. The Interpreter also serves as a liaison between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, hearing students, faculty, and staff, ensuring accessibility and compliance with ADA and Section 504 requirements. Starting Salary: $23.29. Placement in the range will be based on a combination of education and industry related experience. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as an interpreter. Must meet Arizona Department of Education standards by demonstrating one of the following: Certifications/Qualifications
Achieve a score of 3.5 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), or hold a National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Level 3 certification or higher. Possess a valid certification such as:
Certificate of Interpretation (CI) and/or Certificate of Transliteration (CT) from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) certification (any level) Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) National Interpreter Certification (NIC, any level) Comprehensive Skills Certificate (CSC)
Other Requirements
Ability to obtain a valid Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card through Arizona Department of Public Safety. (Required prior to 1st day of employment) Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles and rubella if born after January 1, 1957. Preferred Qualifications
Associate’s degree from an accredited institution. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Information about EVIT
