Overview
We consider applications for this position on an ongoing basis. The Master Stylist is responsible for engaging with guests, consulting on their hair care needs and recommending products and services. The Master Stylist delivers quality professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look. They support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through a focus on performance (service sales and productivity), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Perform hair services including design, haircuts, color, texture, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing where applicable.
Meet or exceed sales and productivity goals for hair services and contribute to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and related metrics.
Demonstrate products to drive sales and guest service experience.
Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Stay informed on new and existing industry trends, products, and services; communicate ingredient benefits to guests.
Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
People
Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate recommendations.
Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely manner.
Collaborate with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total-store guest experience.
Foster professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for ongoing professional development.
Process
Follow Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards; comply with safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures and state board guidelines.
Follow service protocols to ensure a consistent and exceptional guest experience.
Use booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
Maintain store operational standards, including cleanliness of salon, sales floor, restrooms, backroom, and break areas.
Adhere to Ulta Beauty dress code and protect company assets per loss prevention practices.
Perform other operational tasks as directed.
Job Qualifications Education
Cosmetology license
Experience
Previous relevant work experience required
Skills
Proficiency with latest salon techniques for hair services and makeup, and ability to learn and perform services across categories
Proficiency with equipment and chemicals used in technical work
Ability to demonstrate, recommend and sell professional hair care and makeup products
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; build and maintain client relationships
Special Position Requirements
Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Working Conditions
Continuous mobility and standing for long periods
Ability to lift up to 10 lbs and perform bending, reaching, and twisting
Work in a salon environment with exposure to various products and equipment
The pay range for this position is $19.00 per hour with the opportunity to earn services pay pursuant to the Company’s Services Compensation Plan. Exact pay is based on qualifications, experience, and other factors. Full-time employees may be eligible for health, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits; partial-time employees may be eligible for some benefits.
