Overview
We are currently seeking an Instructor Commercial Truck Driving who will advance the institution’s tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service. Summary:
Provide the expertise and knowledge that support the college curriculum and programs. Establish courses following accepted higher education standards, teach students using a variety of effective methodologies and provide engagement and support activities that encourage student learning. The role of the Instructional Faculty encompasses teaching and learning, academic advising, professional development and institutional and community service. Responsibilities
Teaching:
Demonstrate skill and knowledge in the teaching discipline. Improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods. Develop and use a syllabus for each course or laboratory within college, discipline, and departmental guidelines and submit one copy to the department chair. Plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and accommodate differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles. Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and provide timely feedback. Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines. Teach courses at varying times and locations to meet institutional needs. Demonstrate competence and interest in using technology in the classroom and willingness to explore new instructional methodologies. Academic Advising:
Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Provide access to students through electronic communication and other appropriate methods. Offer guidance on instructional or program-specific issues. Professional Development:
Establish annual objectives for professional growth. Keep pace with developments in the discipline. Learn and apply technologies that support student learning. Participate in self, department, and college evaluation processes. Institutional and Community Service:
Participate in scheduled institutional service activities, discipline/program meetings, and college events. Be familiar with and adhere to all policies and procedures of HCCS. Engage in college-related and community activities that foster goodwill and promote the mission of HCCS. Support accreditation standards and participate in planning and budgeting processes. Review and revise program curricula and practices to comply with professional standards and state-mandated guidelines; assist in articulation of courses and programs with secondary and post-secondary institutions. Qualifications
Education:
High School or GED required; Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Experience:
36 months work experience in the field required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work in a diverse environment; willing and able to teach day, evening or weekend classes at multiple sites; proficient in computer usage and software; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong organizational and planning abilities; sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds and needs; ability to inspire and motivate students; self-discipline and ability to manage others.
