If you are interested in working in the telecommunications industry by getting commercial businesses ready for service, this is your opportunity! Installation Tasks

Run new cable: Install a variety of cabling, including twisted pair (Cat5/Cat6), coaxial, and fiber optic cable in new or existing buildings. Establish a route: Run cables from the service line to customer premises, often using fish tape to pull cable through walls, floors, and ceilings. Install support structures: Mount cable support systems like J-hooks, cable racks, and ladder racks. Terminate and test cables: Attach connectors and use specialized test equipment, such as network testers and fiber optic OTDRs (Optical Time Domain Reflectometers), to certify the cable's performance. Set up equipment: Install and configure devices like modems, routers, cable boxes, and wall plates. Install signal splitters: Use splitters to distribute a signal to multiple devices from a single coaxial cable. Lay ground cable: Dig trenches and lay ground cable for residential or commercial service. Maintenance and Repair Tasks

Routine inspections: Perform regular maintenance and preventive checks on cable infrastructure to ensure optimal performance. Remove abandoned cable: Identify and remove old, unused cable to clear pathways and reduce clutter. Repair lines: Fix or replace damaged sections of aerial, underground, or in-building cable. This may involve splicing, applying coax seal, and crimping new connectors. Neatly dress and manage cables: Keep cabling organized, tied, and bundled according to safety and industry standards. Troubleshooting Tasks

Test and diagnose issues: Use diagnostic equipment and methods to locate problems such as weak signals, poor connectivity, or network outages. Inspect physical connections: Check cables for physical damage, loose or corroded connectors, or kinks. Power cycle equipment: Guide customers through or perform a restart of their modem and router to resolve connectivity issues. Address poor service: Diagnose and correct problems affecting the performance of a customer's internet, phone, or television service. Customer and Administrative Tasks
