Overview

Lead Community Organizer role at The Direct Action & Research Training Center (DART Center) via HOPE (Hillsborough Organization for Progress and Equality). HOPE is a constituent-led, grassroots organization that engages faith communities to address root causes of serious community problems in Hillsborough County, Florida. DART is a network that supports faith-based community organizing. The organization has a history of mobilizing interfaith coalitions to build power for racial and economic justice. Key outcomes include advancing affordable housing, fair school discipline policies to reduce the school-to-prison pipeline, investments in public transportation, and criminal justice reforms. Primary Responsibilities

Direct the organization, including hiring and supervising staff (2-3 Associate Organizers) at HOPE, and report to the board of directors. Build community engagement and train grassroots faith leaders to involve others in the fight for justice, recruiting new leaders and congregations. Drive campaigns on community problems; train grassroots leaders to identify problems, conduct research, and develop action plans for issue campaigns; organize public actions (over 1,000 people). Lead fundraising from local sources; coordinate an annual 6–8 week fundraising drive with grassroots leaders; ensure dues from member congregations are collected. Oversee organizational development and management; work with the Board to map strategic direction; supervise and evaluate staff; maintain finances, including timely submission of foundation proposals and reports. You value strong relationships, are curious, and respect all faith traditions while uniting faith communities to act on justice. Core passion to win on local justice campaigns Excellent relationship-building skills Enthusiasm for working with diverse faith communities At least three years of professional experience in community organizing, advocacy, congregational or nonprofit leadership Experience leading teams Valid driver’s license and access to a car Ability to travel for training events throughout the year This role is based in Tampa with travel across Hillsborough County. Applicants in Hillsborough County or willing to relocate are preferred. Compensation, Benefits & Location

Compensation: $63,000–$70,000 base, based on experience; higher salaries considered for highly qualified candidates. Benefits include retirement contributions, paid vacation and holidays, paid sick leave, flexible scheduling, healthcare reimbursement, parental leave, mileage reimbursement, relocation assistance, and comprehensive on-the-job training through DART.
