Controller – Construction Client (Louisville, KY)
LHH is assisting our Louisville-based construction client in their search for a qualified Controller. The Controller works closely with Senior Management to help coordinate all activities of the accounting department and partners with Project Managers to review financial aspects of all company projects. Tasks include tracking, analyzing, and reporting on costs associated with ongoing projects, month‑end WIP reporting, detailed project cost reports, and providing financial insights to support decision‑making processes. Job Description
Assists and oversees various aspects of accounting, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Job Costing, Inventory, and Payroll
Prepares monthly financial statements and borrowing base spreadsheet for review
Directs all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports
Oversees licensing of all types for the Company: business registrations, general contractors, architecture, sales tax and income tax
Prepares invoicing and assists with gathering information for pay applications
Reviews payroll and workers’ comp codes and submits to payroll service
Issues detailed job cost reports to the project managers for their respective projects
Prepares the work‑in‑progress report on a monthly basis
Directs Accounts Payable department to pay vendors when checks come in for jobs
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
5+ years of experience in construction accounting
Prior experience working in a project‑based, construction‑oriented firm
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet strict deadlines
Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills
