Senior Credit Underwriter (VP) — Job Overview
Our client are seeking a Senior Credit Underwriter (VP) to join the Credit team, playing a pivotal role in conducting and presenting thorough credit risk analyses in support of relationship-driven loan requests from our Commercial Real Estate (CRE) team. This position will primarily focus on CRE lending within the Healthcare sector, with an emphasis on skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. The role involves managing some of the bank’s most complex transactions. Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive financial and credit risk analysis for complex loan requests, including review of financial statements, projections, industry/market trends, management, structure, and environmental factors. Identify key credit risks and mitigants, and present findings clearly in risk-focused credit proposals for approval. Collaborate with Lending Officers throughout the transaction process to ensure timely and accurate submission of financial information; participate in client meetings and site visits as needed. Maintain a strong understanding of compliance, regulations, and the Bank’s commercial lending policies; highlight any policy exceptions and provide supporting rationale. Respond efficiently to credit-related questions from approval authorities. Contribute actively to Credit Committee and other relevant meetings. Mentor and provide guidance to junior credit underwriters. Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, or ad hoc reports. Support internal audit and regulatory examiner requests by gathering necessary information. Lead ad hoc credit risk projects with limited oversight. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience. Minimum 7 years of credit experience, preferably in banking with a focus on C&I and Healthcare lending. Strong analytical and financial modeling skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach and high integrity. Demonstrated ability to coach and develop junior team members. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and willingness to learn core database management systems.
