The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Financial Aid Counselor I on the Dahlonega campus. The Financial Aid Counselor I serves recipients of federal, state, institutional, and private funds. Very limited evening/weekend work is required.

Job Summary
The Financial Aid Counselor I will be responsible for counseling students and parents on loans and other financial aid programs, discussing eligibility, application status, and awards with students, and preparing financial aid packets.
Responsibilities
Counsel students and parents on loans and other financial aid programs; discusses eligibility, application status and awards with students; prepares financial aid packets. Provides excellent customer service. Assist student in person, by phone or by email. Award loan funds and other aid. Assist students with completion of the FAFSA and GSFAPPS. Assist with the verification process and C-Codes. Assist with Default prevention plan. Participates in Student Orientations and Open houses. Performs other job related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of routine office equipment and procedures; knowledge of various software programs; knowledge of financial aid application procedures and forms. Requires effective communication skills; accurate typing/data entry skills. Ability to work effectively with a diverse population; ability to utilize BANNER or a similar relational database. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree Two years of experience as financial aid, bank, or retail associate. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Proposed Salary: Minimum Starting Salary: $18.34 per hour Required Documents to Attach
