Job Title: Financial Aid Counselor I Location: UNG-Dahlonega, GA Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 290565 The University of North Georgia is a multi-campus university with almost 20,000 students, focused on educational excellence, leadership development and community engagement. As a Federally designated senior military college, UNG supports its 800-member Corps of Cadets on the Dahlonega Campus and offers pathways from certificates to doctoral programs to meet regional education and economic development needs. Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a Financial Aid Counselor I on the Dahlonega campus. The Financial Aid Counselor I serves recipients of federal, state, institutional, and private funds. Very limited evening/weekend work is required. Responsibilities
Counsel students and parents on loans and other financial aid programs; discuss eligibility, application status and awards with students; prepare financial aid packets. Provide excellent customer service. Assist students in person, by phone, or by email. Award loan funds and other aid. Assist students with the completion of the FAFSA and GSFAPPS. Assist with the verification process and C-Codes. Assist with the default prevention plan. Participate in student orientations and open houses. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of routine office equipment and procedures; knowledge of various software programs; knowledge of financial aid application procedures and forms. Effective communication skills; accurate typing/data entry skills. Ability to work effectively with a diverse population; ability to utilize BANNER or a similar relational database. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree Two years of experience as financial aid, bank, or retail associate Or equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in Spanish preferred Proposed Salary
Minimum Starting Salary: $18.34 per hour Required Documents to Attach
