Overview Healthcare Outcomes Performance Co. (HOPCo) is seeking an Insurance Follow-Up Representative to support the Revenue Cycle and ensure timely and accurate insurance processing.
Essential Functions
Review insurance denials and rejections to determine next steps and resolve outstanding denials.
Verify patient demographic information and insurance eligibility, including coordination of benefits; update and confirm information as needed to process claims.
Verify receipt of claims with insurance plans and determine next steps to ensure timely processing and maximum reimbursement.
Research information needed to complete billing, including obtaining details from providers, ancillary services staff, and patients.
Obtain and attach referrals/authorizations to appointments and charges.
Maintain productivity and accuracy metrics per department expectations and AEIOU Behavioral Standards.
Reduce accounts receivable by resolving outstanding insurance balances.
Analyze accounts for proper processing and payment posting; communicate trends or issues to management.
Follow and maintain all HOPCo policies and procedures, including those related to billing and the Revenue Cycle.
Experience
Minimum one to three years of experience in medical billing and collections.
Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and the public and to establish good working relationships with internal and external customers.
Knowledge
Knowledge of physician billing processes, ICD-10 and CPT coding.
Knowledge of computer systems; experience with Athena billing and collections preferred.
Advanced computer knowledge, including Windows-based programs.
Skills
Customer service skills and alignment with the HOPCo code of conduct and culture.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
Abilities
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Ability to understand patient demographic information and determine insurance eligibility.
Ability to work independently and analyze data.
Environmental/Physical Demands
Normal office environment.
Requires sitting and standing typical of an office setting; occasional bending and light lifting or transferring.
